DIRECTOR BIO
For over 38 years, Jeff Kushner has been a film editor, sound supervisor, and sound designer on both the technical and creative sides of film and television post-production, having supervising contributions to films such as Sling Blade, Shotgun Wedding and Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle. This career has honed his mastery of the cinematic tools needed to tell a compelling story, from shaping the rhythm of a scene to creating an immersive world through sound design. This expertise is a significant asset for capturing the intense and often unseen pressures faced by understudies, standbys, and swings. Kushner is also a professionally trained actor who studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and the Herbert Berghof Studios in NYC. Additionally, having performed in plays like Picnic, The Gingerbread Lady and The Shadow Box, he intimately understands the emotional and psychological landscape of a performer. This dual perspective, being both a technician behind the camera and an actor who has walked the stage, is the very essence of why he is uniquely positioned to direct a film like "In The Wings.” By merging an actor's understanding of performance with a filmmaker's technical expertise, Kushner can authentically portray the challenges and triumphs of these unsung heroes of the theater.
